Barn Conversion, South Norfolk.
Project Location : Long Stratton, South Norfolk
The original barn dates back to 1787 with the date etched into the original timbers together with the initials of those who constructed the original structure. Set on land adjacent to a grade II listed farmhouse, it was our priority to ensure the existing barn was converted to preserve and enhance the original heritage asset. Through the conversion the proposal looks to retain the original features internally by insulating externally and cladding the structure with dark timber panelling, relating to the local vernacular. Red pantiles are used to cover the roof with a new gable extension set off the southern elevation, providing plenty of natural light inside.
