The design has been driven by seeking to retain the importance of the former town hall which forms a significant landmark within Sheringham. With careful consideration we have been able to provide a new life for the building without any unnecessary demolition or removing any of its original characteristics. Upon entering the space you are immediately struck by the historic detailing and references dating back to the previous use. As part of this proposal we look to uncover these decorative elements of the building, emphasising and integrating them into our design.
The current chambers will form the main living space, centred upon the original ceiling which forms a heptagon. The internal face of the clock tower will also become visible allowing the original mechanisms to be viewed internally, adding another subtle reference back to its former use.
